Prosper Cafe Launch

The Prosper Paint Project: A Celebration of Creativity, Collaboration and Careers

December 2025

In Autumn 2 of 2025, six of our KS4 pupils participated in the Prosper Paint Project, gaining hands‑on experience while learning from professionals across a range of industries.

In conjunction with Plymouth, Devon and Torbay Careers Hub and Build Torbay with the support of a range of professionals from a variety of industries including construction, interior design, graffiti artists and painters and decorators (to name just a few) our pupils were provided with hands on training and experience which resulted in the transformation of the Prosper Café, a space to be used by the school and local community.

We were genuinely overwhelmed by the support from local businesses and employers, who generously provided resources, materials, time, expertise, encouragement and a real sense of partnership. Their involvement showed pupils how valued they are by the wider community- we can't thank you enough!

  • Demi Keen - Demi keen Interiors (Designing the space, creating daily task lists for the pupils, providing soft furnishings and supporting throughout the week)
  • Sean Kenney - Refined Build  (Supporting throughout the week)
  • Robbie Clements - CCG Decorators (Providing a health and safety briefing on Monday 17th November and supporting throughout the week)
  • Szbotage - Graffiti Artist (Providing a workshop on Wednesday 19rd November for pupils to stencil and spray a feature wall in the cafe)
  • Dafne Aguilar - Willmott Dixon (Providing pizzas for the pupils on Friday 21st November)
  • Anna Smith - Terry Manning Upholstery

Pupil engagement throughout the project was great to see. They approached each task with enthusiasm, asked thoughtful questions and took real pride in their work. Their efforts were celebrated with festive refreshments, supported by pupils from other year groups who were keen to be part of the occasion.

The project has also had a meaningful impact on our community, with the transformed space now offering exciting possibilities. We look forward to exploring how this area can be used in the future to support local people and strengthen our community connections even further.

The Prosper Paint Project has shown what’s possible when education meets opportunity. Our pupils have gained so much, and the café now stands as a vibrant symbol of what young people can achieve when they’re empowered to lead, create and connect.

Wednesday 17th December 2025 marked the official launch of our newly renovated Prosper Cafe
