Prosper Cafe Launch

The Prosper Paint Project: A Celebration of Creativity, Collaboration and Careers

December 2025

In conjunction with the Plymouth, Devon and Careers Hub, our Year 10 pupils took part in an exciting and innovative work experience initiative — the Prosper Paint Project — designed to give them meaningful encounters with a wide range of employers and industries, while making a lasting contribution to our school and local community.

In just a week, pupils transformed the Prosper Café, a shared space within Brunel School that now reflects their creativity, teamwork and ambition. Working alongside professionals from sectors including design, construction, and community arts, they gained hands‑on experience and insight into real‑world careers.

From planning layouts and choosing colour schemes to liaising with local businesses and painting the final touches, pupils were involved in every stage of the process. They developed practical skills, built confidence, and learned how to collaborate with adults in professional settings — all while creating something that will benefit their peers and the wider community for years to come.

We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity and support of the many individuals and organisations who contributed their time, expertise, and resources. Whether donating materials, offering mentoring, or simply cheering us on, your involvement has made a huge difference — and we can’t thank you enough.

  • Demi Keen - Demi keen Interiors (Designing the space, creating daily task lists for the pupils, providing soft furnishings and supporting throughout the week)
  • Sean Kenney - Refined Build  (Supporting throughout the week)
  • Robbie Clements - CCG Decorators (Providing a health and safety briefing on Monday 17th November and supporting throughout the week)
  • Szbotage - Graffiti Artist (Providing a workshop on Wednesday 19rd November for pupils to stencil and spray a feature wall in the cafe)
  • Dafne Aguilar - Willmott Dixon (Providing pizzas for the pupils on Friday 21st November)
  • Anna Smith - Terry Manning Upholstery

The Prosper Paint Project has shown what’s possible when education meets opportunity. Our pupils have gained so much, and the café now stands as a vibrant symbol of what young people can achieve when they’re empowered to lead, create and connect.

Wednesday 17th December 2025 marked the official launch of our newly renovated Prosper Cafe
