At Brunel School, we want to understand each young person as an individual - recognising their strengths, celebrating their progress and identifying the areas where they may need additional support.

As part of this, we are asking parents and carers to complete a Social and Emotional Growth Profile for their child.

The profile will help us to build a baseline picture of your child’s current strengths, skills and areas for development. This information will help us to:

• understand your child from your perspective and recognise their individual strengths and “superpowers”;
• identify areas where they may benefit from additional support;
• inform effective and meaningful target setting;
• plan appropriate interventions and support;
• work collaboratively with you and your child;
• track progress over time; and
• evaluate the impact of the support and interventions we provide in school.

We will ask families to complete the profile at the start of each academic year. This will allow us to build a picture of how your child develops and grows over time, rather than simply looking at academic progress.

We would encourage you to talk about the profile with your child if you feel this would be helpful. Their views and reflections are important to us, and we want the process to encourage positive conversations about what they are good at, what they enjoy and where they might need a little more support.

There are no right or wrong answers. Please answer based on what you know about your child and your experience of them. If you are unsure about a particular question, it is absolutely fine to click the 'unsure' option.

We see this as another opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school, ensuring that we have a shared understanding of each young person and can work together to help them develop the confidence, skills and independence they need for their future.
