A Message from our Headteacher:

I am incredibly proud of our young people and all that they have achieved in this year’s examination season.

At Brunel School, we know that achievement cannot always be measured simply by a grade on a results sheet. Our pupils have overcome significant barriers to education. As a specialist school for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of our pupils have had difficult and complex journeys through education.

For some of our young people, simply walking through the school gates and sitting an examination is an achievement in itself.

It takes courage to enter an examination room when anxiety, self-belief, previous experiences of education or emotional regulation can make that moment feel overwhelming. It takes resilience to remain in the room, to have a go and to see something through when it feels difficult.

That is why we celebrate every qualification completed, every examination attended and every individual step forward.

Of course, we are delighted to celebrate the qualifications and passes achieved by our students. These results represent hard work from our young people and the commitment of our teaching, support and therapeutic teams. They also represent the encouragement and support of families and everyone who has helped our young people to reach this point.

But behind every result is a young person who has achieved something meaningful.

At Brunel School, our ambition is not simply for our pupils to leave us with qualifications. We want them to leave with greater aspiration, compassion and integrity, with a stronger sense of what they are capable of and with the confidence to take their next step.

To every pupil who completed a qualification this year: we are proud of you.

Whether your result was exactly what you hoped for, better than you expected, or represents one important step on a much longer journey, you have achieved something worth celebrating.

And to those who supported them along the way – our staff, families and wider community – thank you.
